The department of “Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy” is presently looking for candidate for a

PhD (f/m) with MSc in Chemistry or Physics.

The position is available in the department of Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy and will be funded by the Cluster of Excellence e-conversion collaborative network with focus on “Energy and chemical conversion in porous molecular framework-based hybrid structures (MOFs/COFs)”. The successful candidate will work in the field of molecular theory and spectroscopy and will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Frank Neese and Dr Dimitrios Manganas.

Job Description: The work will involve novel wavefunction based electronic structure calculations on molecular catalytic frameworks (MOFs/COFs). The focus will be to develop computational protocols that are able to compute efficiently spectroscopic properties (XAS, XES, XPS, EPR) of such systems under catalytic conditions and study the catalytic mechanisms of various e-conversion reactions. The working language is English. Highly motivated researchers of any nationality with an excellent scientific background and with a deep commitment to fundamental research are welcome to apply.

Qualifications: Applicants should hold a Master’s of Science or equivalent degree in Chemistry or Physics at the point of enrolment, preferentially with experience in method development on quantum chemical codes. The successful candidates are expected to have strong background quantum chemistry, electronic structure theory and spectroscopy. Previous knowledge in C++ computer language will be appreciated.
