Theory meets experiment
The latest edition of the Bunsen Magazine was curated by Professor Alexander Auer

The Bunsen-Magazine is the members' journal of the German Bunsen Society and an important specialist publication on topics relating to physical chemistry. The recently published issue of the Bunsen Magazine deals with the interplay between theory and experiment and was edited by Professor Alexander Auer, Group Leader of the Department of Theoretical Methods and Heterogeneous Reactions. Together with Melanie Schnell from the University of Kiel, Auer has compiled articles as guest editor that impressively demonstrate how the interplay between theory and experiment creates synergies.
In his editorial, Auer emphasizes that the encounter of different perspectives is particularly valuable for the creation of a new basic understanding in research. There are numerous examples in which the exchange and collaboration have not only helped to underpin the theories of experimental chemists through calculations, but also created new understanding through the joint critical scrutiny of methods and processes.
The cover was also designed by Alexander Auer.
