Five young people start as apprentices
New technicians and mechanics start their training at MPI KOFO
The Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung has around 30 trainees in total. This summer, five young men and women have started their training at the renowned research institute.
They come from Duisburg, Dortmund and Essen - and will now be going to work in Mülheim every day for the next few years. Five young men and women have started their aprentice at the Max Planck Institute für Kohlenforschung. They are being trained as chemical laboratory technicians and industrial mechanics.
Some of the new colleagues already got to know the institute before their application phase: “I did an internship here once, which I really enjoyed,” reports Nils Floryzak, one of the apprentices.
Over next three and a half years, he and his colleagues will get to know various departments at the institute and attend in-house classes where other employees teach the trainees.
The training concept is a success: Kohlenforschung apprentices are regularly among the best in the region. Those who do not stay at the institute after their training quickly find a good job in industry. The training at the Institute has also won awards within the Max Planck Society.
“We are currently looking for new candidates for the coming year,” reveals Laila Sahraoui, Head of Training at the MPI. Apprenticeships are available for chemical laboratory technicians, physics laboratory technicians, industrial mechanics and administrative clerks. Anyone wishing to take part in the recruitment tests, which start in October, should apply soon.
