The foundation Max Planck Institute for Kohlenforschung in Mülheim an der Ruhr is a renowned research institution that is over 100 years old and has already received two Nobel Prizes in its history. The institute is engaged in basic research in the field of catalysis with the aim of maximizing the efficient use of natural resources.
The Department of Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy is presently looking for a
Postdoctoral researcher (f/m/d)
with expertise in theoretical chemistry
The position is available for 2 years to work jointly in the departments of Prof. Neese (Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy) and Prof. Grimme (University of Bonn & Max Planck fellow in Mülheim).
Job description: The successful candidate is expected to work on the efficient native implementation of the g-xTB methodology in the electronic structure package ORCA, in particular focusing on analytic second derivatives and Raman intensities.
The position is available from April 1st, 2025. However, the starting date is somewhat flexible.
Qualifications: Ideally, the candidate should have
- experience in the implementation of quantum chemical methods,
- preferably in the C++ language.
