We celebrate 100 years of Fischer-Tropsch
Save the date: Conference from 5th to 7th May 205
To mark the 100th anniversary of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, a scientific conference will be held in Mülheim next year. Our institute will of course be taking part.
The history of the Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung is closely linked to the great invention of its first director Franz Fischer and his colleague Hans Tropsch. Next year marks the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
The two Max Planck Institutes on the Mülheim Chemistry Campus - the MPI für Kohlenforschung and the MPI for Chemical Energy Conversion - have joined forces with the SynGas Convention conference from Cape Town and DECHEMA to pay scientific tribute to this groundbreaking discovery at the birthplace of the invention in Mülheim an der Ruhr. Walter Leitner, Director at the MPI CEC, and Ferdi Schüth, Director at the MPI Kofo, are members of the conference's scientific committee.
The conference "100 Years Fischer-Tropsch Process - A Central Pillar of Future Energy Systems" will take place from May 5 to 7, 2025 in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
Further information can be found on the DECHEMA website.
