Guest Fellowship Program

The Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung offers a limited number of guest fellowships to foreign postdocs and doctoral students on a competitive basis.

The fellowships conform with the framework defined by the Max Planck Society for doctoral and postdoctoral grants in regards to payment, benefits, and research opportunities. Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers are limited to 2 years, and fellowships for doctoral students are meant intended for 6 months.

Applications may be submitted at any time and must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a brief description of the research work to date, and a written approval of the respective group leader of the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung. Further material such as publications or relevant certificates (copies) can also be submitted. Please send your application electronically, preferably in compressed form (zip/rar-file) with all required information in PDF-format to the research group leader whom you would like to join, with the request to forwarding it within the Institute.

The institute appoints a selection committee chaired by the Managing Director, which will  select successful applicants. Decisions will be made in regular meetings every four to six weeks. Applicants will be notified by electronic mail immediately thereafter about the outcome of their application.
